Overview

The Forks Township Fire Department is operated by a staff of 60 volunteers. We provide fire, rescue, and medical assist services to the community of Forks Township and the Borough of Stockertown. We operate out of three stations and cover emergencies 24/365.

I don't have any training, is that OK?

Many of the volunteers started with us with only their energy and willingness to learn. We will provide all of the training and certification courses necessary, at no charge, in exchange for your dedicated spirit.

What can I do to help?

Membership in the Department is divided into a few categories based upon desire and eligibility.

Junior Firefighter: Must be between 14 and 18 years of age with appropriate working papers. Junior Firefighters participate in all training exercises with the Department, and can respond to emergency incidents to assist firefighters on scene. More details about restrictions of service will be detailed to you upon application.
Probationary Firefighter: Must be 18 years of age. Must be physically fit to endure the stresses associated with firefighting.
Fire Police: Must be 18 years of age. Fire Police officers assist by providing traffic control at emergency incidents. This service protects firefighters working at incidents and helps to manage the placement of fire trucks on scenes.
Social Member: Must be 18 years of age. Social Members can assist with the non-emergency activities that the Department engages in, such as community/public relation events, public education, and training. We do not operate a social club.

I'm ready... how do I begin?

The first step is to fill out a membership application. To do this, you must appear at the main fire station,1606 Sullivan Trail, on any Monday evening from about 6:30PM onward. Note however, that we frequenty conduct training off-site on Monday nights, and we usually leave the station around 7:00PM.
